Fishing Reports

The Store Report for June 23-26

Good morning, it's raining in the headwaters at this stage and we are swamped at our end with more rain than the catchment has had.

All the rivers have risen over night and are dirty as a result of the rain however we need lots of rain at this stage it looks as if the weather forecast will provide this at long last.

The rain we had over night has coloured the smaller tributaries and given them all some volume - they possibly could be fished in the lower sections but it all depends on what happens in the headwaters or the catchment over the next 24 hours.

The Tongariro this morning has dropped after coming up to near 60cms overnight and colouring, its dropping and around 30 cms this morning and has cover, just what the doctor ordered. There will be a race to see who can get there first, I am sure! We have certainly been waiting for this for some time, and lets hope that the fish understand that they need to do their part also.

Those that fished last weekend found the conditions difficult with few fish and low clear water. The week forecast is for lots of rain and this may be just what we really need to stimulate the fishery.

Best to ring if you need an update and it maybe midweek when the fishing comes into its own.

Feel free to call anytime, 073868953 and I will update as conditions change. If you need accom or a report just call or e-mail peteandstella@thestore.co.nz anytime.
