Fishing Reports

The Store Report for Feb16-22

Well we are enjoying a little in the way of rainfall but its going to be short and sweet and not enough to serve any real purpose but we are grateful for what we are to receive, I can asure you.

Rivers are low and clear and anglers are finding that its a matter of fishing to the conditions that prevail on the day that provide the best results.

Rivers are natually mostly low and clear other than those tha have additional water source by way of hydro or are spring fed.

Naturally those that are spring fed are going to attract a reasonable number of fish and those anglers that are prepared to fish accordingly will find that there are good numbers of fish that are actively feeding be it first light or last thing. ou will naturally find it harder to lure fish during the day fishing accross quieter water, the need to fish the busier and heavier water best and the lowe river sections as fish come inside the mouths to feed.

Weather over the next few days is going to be alittle unsettled with some cloud, wind and rain but not enough to make a huge difference with a change back to settled warmer weather as a high moves in over the country in the earlier part of the new week.

Fish early or the evening rise for best results, fish with all means be it a dry and a dropper, a dry, a nymph or a small wet, but most importantly fish to the conditions.

Rivers that are hydro controlled will naturally have more flow as do those that are spring fed and naturally are a lot colder, and not affected like those that rely on catchment for water.

Fish the lakes, lake O esp fishing well to those that are prepared to fish to the conditions, be it by boat or lake edge, some days are harder than others but thats lake fishing.

Boating the big lake, fish are deeper and fishing harder as fish drop away with the surface temperatures higher, and what appears to be a distinct lack of food. Lets hope we have a lower lake level for a time to allow smelt to spawn unimpeded on the lake edge.

Have fun and feel free to call anytime for advice, or gear or accomodation or a guide cheers stella 073868953
