Fishing Reports

Good morning, well is the rain coming or is it not, hard to determine at this stage with a few sprinkles but that looks as if it all its going to be. We are in need of a little more water that would freshen all the tributaries and as a result encourage a few more freshies into the system.

Despite that the weather has been fantastic and for those that have been on the water be it in our fishery or outside of the area the fishing has been pretty good.

Rivers are low and clear due to the lack of rain, and forests are tinder dry so some rain would be most useful. We have though enjoy some really good fishing with those that have fished to the conditions, and there are reasonable numbers of fish in the fishery at present.  Those that have concerntrated on fishing the busy water have done better. Both nymph we and the dry have fished, with some really significant hatches later on in the evening producing some excitement.

River mouths have little flow, best to fish off the drop off eg the Tongariro mouths or T/t for the time being, should we get rain then inside of the mouth maybe a goer!

Lake fishing has been fantastic with ideal lake conditions with little wind and and calm conditions for the most, those having fished off the 200 mtr mark be it leadline, harling or jigging have done well. Lots of fish are smaller in size but there are generally a lot of fish in the lake at present.
