Fishing Reports

Well we could do with a little rain and I think that everyone in the nation will attest to that at the present time.

A NOTE:Fri 7th Dec Heavy rain has fallen in the catchment over the past 24 hours and more is due to follow but the main volume appears to have fallen and rivers though high thurs and fridayand coloured will drop and clear quickly due to the fact that they have been low and such is the lake level. Best to ring and check for an up to the minute update, means that we should get some awesome fishing over the next few days. Rain is forecast for the next few days but skiffy rain and into the next week.

We have had little in the way of rain over the month of November and it looks like December is going to be equally as dry which is a change from recent years where we have had to endure rain and wind that has lead into the summer months and we have finially got summer at the end of Jan. This season though looks to be a real summer with a great lead up and lots of sun and perhaps less wind than normal.

Rivers are as a result very low and very clear with anglers finding it equally difficult to hook fish due to the conditions. Most of the fish are in the busier water and not particularly interested what the anglers have to show.

Those that have fished to the conditions with smaller naturals, lighter and shorter leaders and a little bit of stealth, have done okay but we need some rain to encourage some of the beauties that we no are off the river mouths.

Dry fly has over recent days been on and off, the cooler north easterly of the past couple of days often slows the hatches down, but with a warmer northerly forecast I am sure that we will have some fun over the next few days. The big T has fished consistantly to a dry over recent days, pick your days.

Lake fishing is slowly coming into its own with less wind and more warmth allowing fish to move and smelt to spawn which is what we wont on the warmer sand. Quite a lot of surface activity with fish smelting.

Lake O is certainly worth a cast or two lots of fish moving and esp around the edges, not a lot of pressure either.

River mouths have been slower, moon favourable at present so go for it.
