Fishing ReportsThe Store report for Nov 23-29Good morning, well best of luck to those that are riding around Lake Taupo this saturday, we make great coffee, sell beers and eveything else, so if in need feel free to call in! For those of you that are a little more sensible the fishing, well we have had a fantastic week weather wise, like most parts of NZ this week with warmer than average temperatures and as a result the fishing has been great fun. I have been out on the water earlier in the week and the fish are everywhere but you do need to use some deception as the the rivers are low and clearer than they have been for a time and yes the fishing is a little more challenging. Fishing the riffles is best and with a natural, and maintaining contact with your pattern. Dry fly also has been awesome with in some cases a fish a cast and where ever you have cast especially on the big river. Daytime temperatures have eased a little towards the end of the week and with it some wind that at times takes the edge off dry, fish to the conditions. The weekend may bring us a smiggin of rainfall but hard to determine at this stage as often it pushes off if we have a south westerly, we may just get a sprinkle and thats all. The rivers are all very low anc clear so fish the busy water and maintain a reasonable leader length, fish with either a natural, small wet or a dry accordingly to the time and day. River mouths have had little pressure due to the rivers fishing so well, the fish are not fantastic but there are a number of reasonable fish holding off the river mouths. Fishing inside of the mouths of the rivers that can provide some fun, rather than off the drop offs, Lumos still productive. Back country fishing at this time of the year gets heaps of pressure, and more so every year, please remember they are fragile fisheries and you need to be aware of sustainability. Always return your fish if you can. Please remember the Didymo cleaning routine esp if your moving river to river. Have a great week cheers stella 073868953 anytime. From
