Fishing Reports

The Store Report for Nov 1-5

Good morning, well the wonderful sunny weather that we have enjoyed over the past week looks set to roll on by and be replaced with some rain and cloudy weather.

The forecast indicates that we are going to get some rain and drizzel not too much wind and some overcast conditions for the next few days. Lets hope that the rain is just that and doesnt end up being the deludge that is set to fall in the south island.

We could do with a little additional water just a smiggen to give us a little more colour and and entice some more fish to join those that are already in the rivers.

We have  really good numbers of fish present in all the rivers and for those that have fished over recent days the fishing has been fantastic. The lower rivers have in all cases been a little more challenging but fishing to the conditions has brought some lovely fish to the net.

Not only have the nymphers, wet but the dry fly anglers have given the rivers a run for there money also, with warmer conditions providing some very significant hatches.

The next few days shouldnt be any different with rain maybe if it falls in any volume giving us again some extra volume and colour which in turn will enable us to have some further fantastic fishing.

Media documents released yesterday from Bio Security that there have been some samples of water indicating, that there, are dead cells of didymo that have surfaced in the upper Tongariro, Whanganui, Whakapapa, Mangatepopo, rivers. These samples were taken by Genesis Energys, monthly water quality sampling programme.  This is of major concern and further samples have been taken,  the results will be documented as soon possible. At this point we must as we have been doing, maintain our cleaning and washing of all equipment associated with fishing and take the utmost care when visiting a number of rivers.Should you have any further questions please refer to Bio Security Judith Hamblyn Senior Communications Adviser on 04 894 0687 or 029 894 0687.

Lake fishing and lake edge be it river mouth or boat fishing will be determined by the wind which is forecast to increase marginally over the next few days, not being any major problem but take care out on the water. Smelt are appearing and for those that are able to fish harling 2-3 colours and a smelt patternm should work well.

Feel free to contact us anytime cheers stella 073868953 pete.
