Coromandel Kingfish and nice Snaps

The kingfish are still around on the Eastern Coromandel and in good numbers.

We had our first trip out for a while yesterday, as we've just taken possesion of our new boat - a mint 659 Stabicraft Supercab.

The weather couldn't have been better, with pool table like conditions, no wind and the fish obliged!

The kingfish at the Aldermen Is are big and fat, in the best condition they have been all year.  Aaron Thomas hooked his first kingfish with us yesterday, the biggest going 17kg.  We released plenty around the 15kg mark and the ones we kept were all chocka block with fish, one even had a legal sized snapper inside him.

Both livebaits and jigging are producing the kings.

SNAPPER

There are still lots of good snapper everywhere from the boat ramp, Shoe, Slipper and Aldermen Islands.  Softbaits are the best method by far and proof of the pudding came yesterday when we drifted in close on the way back from the Aldermen Islands, producing the first snapper our anglers had caught on softbaits ranging from 3- 12 pound.
