Fishing Reportsa good summerThe weather is still good and the fish are biting. Snapper continue to go well on the west coast with good numbers and size caught over the last month or so. Havn't heard of too many over 20lb but quite a few over 10 and 15lbs. The kingfish have been going pretty well at hunters bank on the long jigs and at boom rock on livebaits. LBG angler mark pandelidis caught 11, 15 and 22kg kingfish from boom over the last month and lost a 30 - 40kg fish just recently. The puka have been very good most of the summer on the west coast but a bit quiet at the trench. 2 x 80lb fish were caught at fishermans on the weekend. Large bluenose are now showing at the trench with many over 10kgs and a few over 15kg. Tarakihi, bluecod and gurnard (our bread and butter fish in the boat) are as good as always on all coasts. The kahawai have been notably quite this season. Surfcasters have been doing well on spotty sharks and moki all season. Some autum snapper are now appearing off miramar wharf. nice kingis have been caught from oriental bay in the harbour to 21kgs.
