 Is it worth getting out of a warm bed at midnight on a winters night to arrive on the beach at 2am? too right it is if there's a chance of catching a good fish. Thats the time all the moochers and shark species come in to feed close to the shore, crab, mussel, Paua guts or raw cray are good baits to try.

Members fished from Ocean Beach to Castlepoint Reef, some stayed put ,while others changed areas to target different species for more points, and at low tide the species were Paua, 10 big ones that were shared out.

There were a lot of Spiney dogfish and Red Cod landed and released,Kahawai,Couta, Blue Cod Kelpie, and Spotted Smooth hounds made up the rest. All and all a good day was had by all, and the usual stories of the ones that got away were told at the weigh-in!
