OKUMA BRASS MONKEY FISHING COMP
$10 per angler entry -  15, 16 july 2006.

all proceeds will be sweepstaked back as prizes to members.

area - otaki river to castlepoint, 2 rods per angler, igfa rules  

okuma are donating some good prizes to the pool. gary kemsley and wife sue are attending along with pete lamb 

evening breifing 7pm friday

same general rules and details as aon southern bait challenge 2006
all fish must be gutted and gilled

1. most points - moki (10 plus 10 per 500gm), spotty shark (10 plus 5 per 500gm), kahawai 5 plus 5, gurnard (10 plus 5), couta 5 plus 5, red cod 2 plus 2, blue cod 10 plus 5, tarakihi 10 plus 5, trev 10 plus 10. no more than 5 of each specie.

GENERAL FISHING
Winter is here and the fish are still biting! For boaties the groper and bluenose have been good.
The south coast has been good for bluecod, tarakihi and gurnard.
The west is producing good jds pretty consistently with cod and teris and a few trevs too.
For surfcasters the spotty sharks and gurnard are in good numbers and blue moki are a regular catch on sth coast beaches. The harbour continues to produce tarakihi, gurnard and elephantfish as well as good blue cod and kahawai. There are still snapper and kingfish being caught too.


LATEST FISHING REPORT
1.7.06 well weve had a pretty busy 8 charters in the last 9 days. 3 good hauls of puka, 2 tough days on puka, plenty of tarakihi down makara way with some big ones in 60mtrs off boom and macs rock. 3 snapper on saturday at makara (schoolies), a couple of trevs and a number of small warehou
15.6.06 caught some good puka and tope off hunters, fishermens is stil firing puka as well as makara (in close).

 

SHARE COST BOAT FISHING TRIPS with Wellington Fishing Charters on 52ft Melicent
(for individuals or small groups) depart e peir mana marina 7am, return 4.00pm. Puka, kingfish, snapper, trevs, tarakihi and blue cod.
