Fishing Reports

Upper North Island Report

Welcome to a new series of reports that will highlight what is happening in the upper North Island rivers.

King Country

Four of us fished a small stream last saturday and landed approximately 80 fish between us. They were a mixture of browns and rainbows and many were smaller fish. There was lots of helpful advice offered on the strike and landing from "the gallery". Pictures of the trip and further information can be found here.

Rotorua

There are a lot of fish in the various streams aroudn the region although they ca be a little hard to hook up. The Ohau channel is fishing well with the biggest I've heard of being a 9lb brown.

Rangitaiki River

The Rangitaiki river has fished well on small Dries, caddis and wee wets. Best I have heard of is 22 fish landed in day.

Mohaka River

The last CD Rods NZ Team practice was held on the Mohaka river. We landed some very nice fish - browns and rainbows upto 5 1/2  Lbs. All fish were hard fighters so excitment levels were high all day. Pics of the trip can be seen here.
