Fishing ReportsGreat Dive Conditions!January saw some of the best diving conditions to occur all season, with 20 meters viz. recorded at Goat Island Marine Reserve and 15-20 meters off shore in parts of the Hauraki Gulf. This was tempered by the occasional algal bloom leaving interesting red colours and long strands in the water which can only be termed 'snot' like!!!! The end of January heralded a fantastic humid and hot Tropical Storm and continual N-NE winds and swell which was turned the reserve to pooh!!! However off shore is still looking great!! A charter to Sail Rock/Hen Island last weekend found 20 meters viz at the Rock and 15-20 at the Hen! Never fear if the coast isn't looking that great it just means you need to head off shore to the Outer Gulf Islands... The sun has finally broken through again and it looks like the swell is dying for the long weekend so lets get rid of the surf & boogey boards again and get back into the scuba dive equipment! From
