Fishing ReportsDiving Milford SoundHi there and welcome to the first of this summer's diving reports from Fiordland. The season has got off to a great start with hot sunny days and much more settled weather than we'd normally expect at this time of year. Marine sightings have been many and varied - spiny sea-dragons being a favorite. These unusual critters normally live at about 200m or deeper, but live here at about 15m, making for very easy viewing for scuba divers. Despite the warmer, lighter conditions in the sea-water (beneath the freshwater layer) we've been having regular sightings of spiny spotted dogsharks too - a great first shark encounter. These small sharks are inquisitive and friendly, often groups of 3-7 swimming in and out of our group of divers. The highlights for everyone are the huge black coral trees - many over 2m high with one in particular being over 4m wide/high; a spectacular "ghostly white" display. More later, watch this space. ...... Greetings from the Tawaki Team From
