Fishing Reports

the kingfish have turned up

If the last week or two is anything to go by we may be in for a cracker kingfish season. there have been 3 to 12kgs caught off the shore on the west coast and numerous in the boats on the west and in the harbour. There are quite a few inclose to shore now and while you are snapper fishing be ready for the kingi. we caught 2 kings to 37lb off the mana bridge last wednesday. A freind gaffed a 10kg king off the rocks at boom recently and a member of WSAC caught two similar sized fish sth of there. The snapper have been on and off. one day they are everywhere the next they are more spread out. the water temp is 18 + and there is a real chance of tuna and possibly a billfish, certainly off the east coast and out wide from kapiti.

The puka have quietened down at fishermans rock but are good at makara. we caught 15 there last w/end. also a 17lb gemfish.

With this marvelous weather pattern things are really booming here. surfcasters have been doing well on moki, spotty sharks and gurnard.

We look forward to the ngawai and plimmerton fihsing comps coming up soon.

we have places available on our wednesday night 5pm - 10pm snapper charters ($80pp) and on our tuesday puka charters ($125pp)

We have spots available to the 3 kings in april/may on Mazarine - email me for further info
