Fishing ReportsRyders Trout Fishing @ Lake Aniwhenua LodgeLooks like summer has finally arrived. The past 4 days have been brilliant with only a gentle breeze. Insects are hatching so all forms of angling are working well. Lake Aniwhenua continues fishing fantastic. Many guests obtaining their bag limits of 8 easily. The new sandy delta area below our lodge (formed from the July flood) has created a great new fishing spot for the shore anglers. A lot of 4 - 8lbers have been landed here lately. Generally about half & half Rainbows and Browns. All appear to be in excellent condition. Guests are amazed at the amount of fish that can be spotted around the shore and on the sandy areas. The upper Whirinaki river is crystal clean now. Good fishing to nymphs and dries. The Cicada hatches started here about a week ago. The lower Whirinaki has cleaned up good, although levels are higher than normal for this time of year. The Rangitaiki river is still cleaning but fishable now. Levels are still higher than normal but will lower quickly if this fine weather continues. Cheers, Joan Ryder www.troutguides.co.nz
