Fishing Reports

Not much to report from the East Coast  North Island over the last week due to the strong NW wind pattern. Two days last week we recorded 75 knot winds. Highest ever I have recorded for the Met Service.

Last report on the boating scene was some good catches of groper and tarakihi taken, best groper was 12kg and a 2.84kg tarakihi by some locals. Few moki caught a week ago.

Porangahau Beach has up to yesterday being fishing resonably well, some good gurnard were taken early in the week on long lines off the beach, if you could stand the wind speed. Yesterday with the change to a Southerly brought in dirty water and the spiny dogs back. A 3.1kg kawahai landed on surf rod at the river mouth.
