Who is the best snapper fisherman in Auckland? Well if you're looking for someting to do next weekend (Sunday 16th) then you don't want to miss the inaugeral running of the "Auckland Snapper Championships" in conjuction with the "Roadhouse Lion Red Summer Classic". Well this contest hopes to find out, and with a Snapper 1st prize valued at over $3,000 and an Average weight prize of $2,500 worth of prizes, it's sure to be a great contest. No-one will go home empty handed. In fact every entry in the competition recieves a FREE handle of Lion Red and a packet of VMC hooks at the event!! And those that manage to win prizes for their fish, will be most pleased with the range of prizes and cash they will walk away with. In fact there should be around $30,000 worth of prizes including Spot, Draw and Mystery prizes!! There is also the new Trophy for the heaviest Snapper which the winner gets to take home! But it is not only a Snapper competition, and contestants can weigh in Kingfish for a $2,500 value 1st prize or Trevally, Kahawai, Gurnard and John Dory for $1,200 value 1st prizes respectively. Prizes include a Mercury outboard, Quicksilver Motorised Scooters, Alpine Car Stereo's, Shimano sets, DVD players the list goes on... This is a one day contest and is being run out of the Roadhouse Bar & Diner in Papakura, and this year our charity is the Coastguard. Most boaties will agree this is a worthy cause. The Final weigh in time is 6pm at the Roadhouse, which differs to the 4pm advised on the tickets. And you can fish anywhere within the days travel, so all of you who enjoy the West Coast, Good Luck!
