Fishing Reports

The Store Report for June 25th

Good morning, its looking good at present after a very cool start at present there is no rainfall in sight, 2 days without rain!. There is a little south westerly blowing here which is more southerly on the Tongariro. A cool wind! The rivers are still all returning to there near perfect condition after rain, but fishing still remains quite difficult on the Tongariro. It seems that for some the fishing is reasonable, but for others difficult to get onto the fish. Pressure at those popular spots is making life difficult for anglers waiting or wanting to fish them. Take the opportunity to fish other water that is not so pressured, fishing the pockets. Often much of the river is left untouched or stretches up or below pressure points will be holding the fish, simply as the fish are unable to move comfortably. The Hine fished well yesterday mainly due to the fact that there was plenty of water and cover. Water volume was giving lots more lies, to fish comfortably for more anglers. The T/T fished well yesterday, the upper reaches especially providing the spots, fish accumulated right through the day and most anglers had enjoyable experience . The lower reaches also had their fair share of fish, and there were few more anglers on the water lower today. Fishing the lower requiresighter weighted nymphs and perhaps poke a natural in here and there. Mouths, I hoped to fish, with no wind here at home last night but a huge swell which just sucked your line, will try agin this evening, Weather is looking a little bleaker, but with snow forecast for later in the week, maybe we should get the boards out and polish them.
