Boca PTs Bait Teaser Spin Reels

08 July 2010

USA tackle giant Quantum has released the Boca PTs Bait Teaser spin reel with a two drag system: it has a rear-adjustable ‘teaser’ drag that can be set light, from zero up to a maximum of 1.8kg; plus a tough front-adjustable stacked ceramic drag capable of up to 19kg of power. It's rare to find such saltwater strength in a bait teaser format.

Boca PTs Bait Teaser reels have big fish capability and are suited to fishing surf, Rock, inshore and light tackle offshore. They’re ideal for feeding out live baits or cubes for kingfish, or bait fishing for snapper. You can fish in-gear on a set drag ready for instant hook-up, or engage the free-spool facility for finicky fish.

The two PTs Bait Teaser models retain the saltwater credentials of the tough Boca PTs spin reels, including the one-piece aluminium frame, side plate and spool, the TiMAG™ nickel-titanium bail wire and magnetic trip, and SaltGuard™ six-layer corrosion protection finish. The extra-hard PT gears have teeth that are precision cut one at a time, for a perfect mesh. Quantum's exclusive MAGLOK™ continuous anti-reverse has the largest rollers available in any reel and can withstand twice the load of standard roller bearings. The hybrid bearings—originally developed for aircraft engines—are nitrogen-injected stainless steel combined with special polymers for added protection.

This clever combination of light drag for finesse and extreme saltwater power is a dream come true for snapper anglers, and it’s a real surprise packet that will make kingfish live bait anglers think twice about the choice between spin and overhead reels.

Both sizes have a 4.9:1 gear ratio. The BST60PTs holds 205m of 12lb mono, retrieves 81cm per turn and can crank up to 12.2kg of front drag. The big BST80PTs holds 300m of 20lb mono, wins 93cm of line per turn and has a maximum front drag of 19.1kg.
