Okuma Fishing Hero results in 272kg Blue

In January Jono Gavey and his two mates Ben and Cam won Okuma Fishing Hero with their video entry showing a Bronzy have a go at their Kingi and smash into their tinny.

Turns out the trip was a huge success and at the end of it Jono's score card was looking pretty healthy. Jono had never seen a marlin in the water but after the week up at the King Bank and Middlesex Bank here's what he had to show for it;

4 x Striped Marlin (estimated 70kg - 130kg)

1 x Black Marlin (estimated 180kg)

1 x Blue Marlin (weighed at 272kg)

To top it off team Okuma Reel Passion also took out the following titles in the 2010 Nationals; "Champion Billfish Angler", "Team Champions - Billfish" and also the top scoring team from Waihau Bay.

It was a great trip and Jono ended up with a scorecard most fisherman spend a lifetime trying to achieve.
