Lusty & Blundell establish new engine solutions service

10 July 2008

Lusty and Blundell Ltd, a leading New Zealand marine systems’ specialist, have established a new Engine Solutions division, primarily to cater for the fast-growing engine refit market.

According to Lusty and Blundell CEO, Garry Stone, L&B Engine Solutions will provide customised solutions for any application requiring a marine engine between 12hp and 286hp.

“The decision to establish L&B Engine Solutions was based on the demand from our customers for good, affordable replacement engines, especially since we secured the Vetus agency about 18 months ago,” he says.

The experienced Grant Matthew, a long time member of the Lusty and Blundell crew, will head the new L&B Engine Solutions division.

Matthew says that the new division will provide individually-tailored engine solutions for clients from the company’s range of Westerbeke and Vetus diesel engines.

“We are able to offer a range of solutions, depending on what the client requires. We have solutions for those wanting to replace their yacht engines and for those with larger pleasure boats or light commercial vessels.”

Matthew says he expects the new Vetus VF range to prove particularly popular.

“This is a new range of lightweight, compact, high performance diesels,” he says. “They are ideally suited to those wanting fuel-efficient replacements for V8 inboard petrol engines or older style, heavier and less economic diesel engines.”

Matthew says the new Vetus range is available in either shaft drive or stern leg, meaning it will suit just about any application.

Lusty and Blundell‘s experience with marine diesel engines dates back more than two decades.

“Lusty and Blundell have been selling Westerbeke marine engines with generators for over 20 years,” says Matthew. “In that time, they have proved to be incredibly reliable, exceptionally low maintenance engines.

“The Vetus range has also been in New Zealand for several decades and enjoys a worldwide reputation for reliability and efficiency.”

The new L&B Engine Solutions division will be based in the company’s Albany headquarters on Auckland’s North Shore and be offered through a nationwide network of L&B Engine Solutions dealerships.

Matthew says all L&B Engine Solutions dealerships will be well-established businesses with a wealth of experience in the sales and service of marine diesel engines.
