Really? takes experts to figure that out?
Or put another way takes experts to put such a system in, and not realise one cant get a fish size right by a photo or video taken at a distance?

Good old basic common-sense is declared dead.

industrial production lines often have a sorting station, they weight and/or measure units, accurately down to mm/ gms or less in milli seconds... plus log and/or record.. they are not complex in this day and age of electronics, as against 40/50 yrs back

Why this was not set up?...
And expense  or speed it BS... just as the excuses for the CCTV.

Oh well that PR , propaganda BS of MPI didnt last long.

Should have to land everything caught in a trawl and this won't be a problem.  If that became law I bet their netting technology would improve very fast.

That is true. However those systems are set up with fixed datum points, stations and regular process movements. If all the fish travel from the landed net individually via conveyer belt before being sorted/discarded then those datum points could be fixed and theoretically the system would work and be accurate.
