Hey anyone familiar with Birchville Dam in the Hutt valley?  Hows the fishing? and is it open enough for fly fishing?
Cheers

there is a few fish in it its quite hard to fish unless you want to drag up a yak or inflatable you can flyfish off the top wall allgood though. theres a vid on youtube of a guy feeding cicadas to fish. worth a try when there in full swing.

I have spotted smaller trout in the stream and there is an unofficial path that goes to the back of the lake where it is easier to fish and shallower also the water there is crystal clear in the shallow part making it really easy to spot fish.
