no it doesn't zoom in very far. that's as good as the resolution gets unless you pay the Russians 4 access to their spy satellite network.

had one of my best dives ever at robin hood bay a few days ago. NE wind , surface was glass, the vis opened up to 7 or 8 metres at times. im not a local but from what i hear thats pretty good for around there. unfortunately had people waiting so didnt have much time. found a nice weedline with plenty of moki and butters. crays and paua not too much trouble. water temp was not bad, probably 18 or 19. wish i had more time in the water

did a few dives in QCS and Tory over the last two weeks, got a few moki and terrys. Hit up the port for the first time ever last thursday - messy outside the heads so stayed in and dived a few rocky weedy spots. heaps of undersized moki, butters, paua and cray so no luck in the water but did come away w cod, snapper, carrots and terrys off the rod. vis was 3 odd metres but hazy as. loved it and cant wait to explore there more, hopefully heading up this weekend for a day. what has everyone else been up to?

Gidday TOTS Si spearos! You may have heard that we are setting up a South Island spearfishing and free diving club to bring the many groups of mainland spearos together. The club will share free diving and spearfishing techniques and information specific to our waters, plus run training sessions and arrange events and competitions. Our inaugural meeting will be at the chch rugby football club rooms (in the squash complex (rear building not the main building)) at 250 Westminster St on Friday June 9th from 7.30pm. The bar will be open and we encourage all spearos reading this to bring 5 or more of their spearo buddies. Fyi our committee is Hamish McMillan (swam 125m underwater at last year's pool free diving nationals), Brad Warr (of canterbury spearfishing supplies), Lee Dobson (Blenheim based and co-organiser of the 2018 south island spearfishing comp), Sam Murray (organising the SI champs with Lee), Philip Van Zijl (Oamaru based and representing the southern folks), and myself Ian Barker (organiser of barkers grand slam spearfishing tournament for the last 20 years). We are eager to involve as wide a gathering of mainland spearos as possible so please encourage your mates to get involved. If you're attending from TOTS we'll try and sort accommodation with Chch spearos for you.
Do or do not. There is no try.
