Hi

Quick report....

Due to a few "technical difficulties" we had a late start today.  On the water about 9:30am.

Shot out to Tiri to see whether we could enjoy some of the success others have had recently in the general area.

Lots of boats and birds when we arrived about 1-2km north of the island.  Even some dophins.

But other than the odd diving bird here and there nothing really eventuated around us.

We battled through and ended with a few pannies to have for lunch....tough work on our shift.Wind came up and against the tide too so headed home about 12:30pm.

Interested to know whether anyone did well out there today as there were lots of boats covering a wide area and sporadic pockets bird action everywhere too.

Cheers

Macca

Had some clients out there today. Nothing over 30cm. Had some clients out there yesterday, and they filled their boots at the southern end of the channel in some workups. Had some clients out the day before that, and they didn't get nada around Tiri and wider, but got heaps further north. Tiri area seems a bit hit and miss in these current southerly quarter winds.

I was greating a member back into the marina around 3:00pm and when finished, shot down to the ramp for a quick look. Couldn't believe how many people were coming back in with the SWer blowing. The forecast had been saying W - SW 20 gusting 30knts in the avo for at least 24hrs before. Saw a number of boats that will need gelcoat chip repairs, and one that looked like the skeg might need a panel beat. All that in about 15 minutes. With the SW and W forecast I would have headed for the other side of the penninsula or off to Hatfields.

we did alright this morning from 7am to 11am around whangaparoa bay on the sands. Snaps under 30's were a rarity with most hookups were keepers. Kept 12 on the 35 - 60's between 2 fishos. Bites died as gusting SW blew. Patches of small workups were happening all morning but each doesnt last longer than a couple of minutes, and dont look like any worth chasing.

Launching on the north side of the peninsula tomorrow morning and heading out into the bay and to the islands north if we don't get into anything out in the open. Got a huge selection of softies to tempt them with as well as some shrimps from Top Catch. Even taking a lucanus jig to drag over the sand.

Praying the predicted westerly doesn't eventuate.

Saturday we drifted between motuora and challenger on the SW.  SB and luncanos picked up 5 over 12 pound, 16 being the biggest.  Non stop action between 2 n 4 clock (sat). Went back for a crack today..... Nothin.

Interesting reports coming from this area with both the good and the bad. Sounds like if you find the schools on the bite you're in for a good time though.

Went to the 40mtr (drifted to 45mtrs) mark east of Tiri in a big sea on Sunday 3-7pm. Got our limit on softies, but no workups or mammals? Fish up to 60cm.
