Hey gents, hows fishing around Whangaruru lately ?

I used to hire a boat off Justin Smith from oakura bay charters while living up north, used to have some good fun around henry island went to danger rock once and watched the ex bro in law strip out the gears on his reel on a snag while he was convinced he had a bloody big fish, caught my first and only school shark and cuda around that area, stopped learning about skippering boats after my mate died as he was showing me the ins and outs of boating. Would love to get back up there to hire a boat off justin if he is still operating to hit henry island again.

First time fishing Oakura for me this morning, (mate just bought a batch up there on the beach). Only had a few hours so shot out to Danger Rock then in to the coast for a little straylining around high tide. Managed 6 good pannies and we had them for lunch with some chips from the local shop. I'm looking forward to spending some time up there learning the local secrets, it sure is a slice of paradise!
