I was in at Hunting and fishing north shore today, they have some Daiwa shore spartan for $300. There was a 10 foot 6 pe2-4 model.

Mono, I have a Hearty Rise 9'6 pe 3 rod which might work for you. It's not a wimpy pe 3 rod. It's designed for shore jigging, I think.
