Any questions I should be asking about anything on either listing ?

I have had wood and glass and would (pun there) never go back to a timber boat in terms of maintenance...

I would choose the shaftdrive hull over the two outdrive hull as my first preference.
Nothing wrong with a well built wooden hull, they are still outliving many many glass hulls.
I would think the 350 is a bit over priced, there are some cheaper ones (but lower hp) available.

probably being a bit byes here but my pick would be the vindex,I do not like volvo.
Yanmar I have found very reliable and parts obtainable, the volvo engineer I spoke too was a very unpleasant experience

Have you seen both?

The Formula is quite a but  bigger boat than the 350 volume wise, both are basically the same hull design by Jim Young, the 4000 is actually the vindex 375 hull, so seakeeping qualities will be very similar although more waterline length always helps in a sea.

The 350 is single engine. Do you want twins or single engine?

Personally I am obviously not fazed by either volvos or sternlegs. I have had twin 200hp volvos and legs in my boat since 1998.

The 230 Volvo's are a good reliable motor, but like all things marine, reliability ultimately depends on doing the maintenance when due not only when something breaks.

Where are you based? where will you use the boat?

Would need to see how the 350 was extended but probably my pick of the two. Significantly lower maintenance bill with a single on shaft. Just check if that Yanmar is is rebuildable if needed. Some around that size have specially hardened bores and the sleeves are not replaceable. Makes them a throw away engine if they fail. They are however usually a very good engine. Staying away from Volvo would normally be a good thing, but I don't think the 43 is one of the bad ones. Stern legs on a big boat like the formula may get expensive, but you may also get lucky.

Both seem to be nice boats

The 350 has a really good flybridge layout with the helm set back and full height cover, it should be cheaper to own with modern motor with bulletproof shaftdrive configuration, also it fits into a 12mtr berth.

Most marinas will not let the 4000 lay in a 12 mtr berth but it also seems to be a nice example with updated motors and legs.

I would also be tempted to look at something with twin Cummins motors & shaft drive like this 36 Riviera for similar money

cheers
