Nothing new there really. I think the local report done by the Uni guys said something similar about waste here didn't it. Then the stories about containers of rotting fish outside supermarkets as well. If it that bad here, imagine what it will be like in less developed countries.
Governments all over the world are massively letting down the people of their countries by not getting commercial fishing under control. Then there are the governments who encourage their long range fishing fleets to go and plunder stocks around other poorer countries who haven't got enough of an industrial fleet to rape their own waters, then turn a blind eye to what they get up to. Then there are the poor countries where corrupt governments collecting bribes to allow foreign vessels to rape their countries waters until the people who subsist on local fish start to starve. It is an economic, social and environmental disaster nearly everywhere you look. Is there a more corrupt global industry than commercial fishing, and is their another industry that so many governments turn a blind eye to? The only question left now is will anything change before many of the worlds fisheries go into irreversible collapse.
