Hello perchfishermen
We wanted to fish the Golden Bay for kingfish on the flats. But the water is too muddy, high waves, no chance.
So we head south to Christchurch and will try to get some perch. How was the area affected by the several storms? We was quite lucky with perch in the Ruamahanga a week ago. Lots of fish that size.
And half a year ago in the Oreti near Invercargil we got the biggest perch in NZ up to now. 1.8 kg. Gave very nice fillets and a wonderful meal.
We would like to go for perch in Canterbury since there seem to be some real good waters arond there. Would there be someone to give us some ideas at where to head to at the moment since the rains was pretty hard these last weeks. We will be in Christchurch next weekend.
Thanks from a Swiss perch lover fishing for them everywehre in the world. Normally in the lakes in Switzerland where they are very much looked for very much.
These are our Swiss perch. Minimum size 15 cm - a 4 lbs perch ist just to be dreamed of! The other one is a Coregone - white fish - very nice too.
And if there are no perch we head to Twizel and try to get anther small trout.
My wife had to put the bikini on since she promised to so if she catches a trout over 10 lbs. And this was 16.7, so there was no excuse! And it was just 8°C!
And she cooks perch in a lot of wonderful ways Thai style
- if we catch some!
Cheers Roland and Jaew
Fishing is not a matter of life and death, it is much more important.
