Hi All, been a while since last report, good fishing yesterday. Here's a rundown. Sea flat slight offshore, a bit of rain in air out we went. On board good friend Chris, fairly new to Mokau and FishingBig smile. Took him out the day of the Supermoon and if it wasn't for a couple of small snaps from Sabiki got Skunked on the Straylines. A FirstLOL So mission yesterday to get him on his first nice Snap! Baitfish everywhere we trolled and had ten Kahawai  in short time. Fished close in, out went the Straylines with fresh Whole Kahawai Fillets and Heads. Chris kept Busy with Sabiki catching more Bait for freezer. that went on hold pretty quick as first run hit within ten minutes! Handed rod to Chris, a bit of Guidance and shortly after he landed his first ever nice Snap of 5 Kg's. He was RaptThumbs Up Before long he was high fives again with a 6 kg model. Next hour or so we shared the rods kept enough for all and let quite a few go of similar size. Had some heavy rain showers coming through out there, so called it a day and headed in. He's now hooked, we should have some great trips to report on in the Future! Photo's- A wet Chris back on land. Happy Newbie with catch on filleting Table! Cheers....

Nice haul as per usual.
When you say in close what sort of depth are we talking?
Are you fishing over foul or over the sand? Just thinking if your methods would apply up at Raglan.

Nice one Geoff. Good to see some nice snapper in close. I'm heading out this week for attempt no2 for big snaps in close off manukau. Just not sure how dirty water may affect fishing with all this rain?
Why choose either diving or fishing when you can do both. Besides crayfish tail is very good bait!!

Hi churbay, 15-18 metres, all sand. Occasionly 10 metres if conditions a bit rough for boat. Its the same stretch of coast, couldn't see why my methods wouldn't. Requires heaps of patients though if the bigger fish are slow to arrive....

Hi Stephen, some of my best fishing has been in dirty water from our rivers spewing it out after heavy rain. Have found the Snaps like the edge of the dirty water where it meets the clean sea water. Beer
