From Waihau Bay Sportfishing Club:

17 SBT today Predominantly caught in Honda Marine New Zealand and some in Iceman Whakatane. A much better bite.
Weights ranged from 36 kgs to 111 kgs.
The biggest albacore went 21.2 kgs.
The striped marlin weighed was 120.8 and had a broken bill.
Congratulations to Graham Beaufill on Lured, a Tauranga boat. We certainly didn't expect to be weighing marlin at this time of year!

We hooked a fish on friday in 1200m off Lottin, it was an odd strike for a tuna and the fish thrashed around on the surface a bit before taking off, we dropped it after about 20min and we never got a good look at it, I didn’t think tuna would do that. After seeing a marlin caught today I’m a little suspicious we may have had a marlin on.

Don't worry mate.

Well done to the crew on Peeled Out Thumbs Up Heard the call over the VHF. Ive just got back today fished Thursday and Friday at the 1000m line from the Cape Run away area.
No bites for us seen Dolphins on Thursday and some Skippys or small Albies on Friday.
Must of missed the rush as there no cues at the ramp were. . Another group from Cambridge caught a 22kg Albie on Thursday and a big Skippy on Friday.
Weather was good will be back again soon for another go.

Bugger the SBFT line class NZ record, if 28kg Boulder’s fish would be an all tackle NZ record wouldn’t it?
Two great fish.
Better than my 10lb snapper from this morning...
