Anyone know how to do this? click on "update profile" and it goes straight to "create a profile" ???

Sorry for the dumb question, but are you logged in? That may be affecting your attempt.

I clicked on the words 'Member panel' next to the sprocket like symbol at the top of a forum page, in the box below Forum Home.
I then clicked on 'edit profile' and that appeared to allow me to change location.
I typed a different location in the box, then clicked on the left hand button at the bottom of that page.
bingo.

Click on Member Panel in the home screen. There are five or so tabs: Control Panel - Profile - Descriptions
 
Choose Profile - you can edit it form there.
 
Or you can let me know what you want to change to and I can do it for you.
Best gurnard fisherman in my street
