There's a lot of sand up here, and usually some good current. so I like thin line that cuts through waves and wind rather than going sideways! But obviously you'll need to balance up how much rock v beach you're doing.
I have most of my reels spooled with 20lb mono (9.1kg, .4mm) with 40-60lb shockleaders depending on what I'm throwing. Gives a good combo of line capacity and power. Have landed stingrays (not intintionally!) over rocks like this.
Braid is also good at cutting through the water, and ripping up fingers.
I find it far too twitchy for land based, I don't even like it that much on a boat but you get greater capacity-for-size and that no-stretch feedback.
What is "better" is a Holden v Ford argument that will last until they invent a third option or a hybrid braided-mono.
(Obviously it's Holden)
