Hey guys, I'm looking to head to Hawaii next year probably around March. Am keen to do some jigging & top water.
Anyone got any contacts of local fishos & or Charter operators?
I've seen a few vids of a guy fishing off his Jetski getting great catches of YFT & Marlin & locals fishing top water for GT's.
Any contacts or info would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Pete

Hey Grant, me & the missus are just making plans now so don't exactly have final destination/s set as yet.
So can't really expect Carol to sit around while I go off dragging lures for days but will be looking to do a couple of 1 day missions.
Really keen to do some jigging AJ's or what ever & top water for GT's. I see they do some shore based top water for GT's & have you seen the YouTube vids of the guy fishing off his Ski getting Fin & one vid of him & his missus getting bill fish. Very exciting off a Ski!
Any further help or contacts will really help me fit some fishing into our itinerary.
Cheers Pete

Sounds like a fun trip. If you're going to Kona & keen on a charter and some trolling can put you in touch with a couple of people - e.g: the Luna with Capt Chip Van Mols and a couple of others.

Hey Grant, any of the charter operators specialise in jigging & top water or do most just target Blues?

Gotcha Grant, it's not that I'm uninterested in trolling for game fish it's more a time factor & am really keen to add GT's to catch list. I might start by contacting some fishing clubs over there.
Cheers for your help mate.

There are a heap of charter boats out from Ohau which is where the international air port is so I am sure that you could organize a trip once there plus it has the benefit or having a great outlet centre that your wife could spend time in. The outlet centre is the size of a mall and takes all day I can tell you.
If you go to Maui, again there are a lot of charters but with a lot less populace it would take more to organize. The down side is that there is less things probably for your wife to do.

When you have more plans as to how long your staying in Hawaii or which Islands we may be able to help further. My advice would be to fly to Maui or another Island ASAP then come back to Oahu to finish the trip.
You can do a submarine trip, at trip around the Island is worth while as well.
Personally, I would not look at hiring a car in Oahu but the other Islands are fine as the less population makes things easier. Your normally upgraded to a Mustang convertible or similar so just book a smaller car and see what happens
