Winters coming and it is time when some people think about their winter escape to somewhere warmer than cold windy NZ

Here's a couple of videos we did from our trip to Aitutaki in Septenber last year;

Mahimahi on live bait

Yellowfin tuna on deep diving lures

GT on a stick bait

We have a minority shareholding in the boat which allows us to use it when we are over there.  Just need to co-ordinate our holidays with the other owners to avoid clashes.

I don't think too many boat owners will do dry hire at Aitutaki due to the risk of people hitting coral boomies in the lagoon.  Not to many spare parts for boat repair over there.

Plenty of opportunity to fish from kayaks and sailing dingies that can be hired over there though.  Just need to get a fishing license for the period that you plan to fish within the lagoon.  Don't need a license for fishing outside the lagoon.

Also good fishing to be had from shore inside the lagoon and from the reef casting outside - just be prepared to say goodbye to your gear as the big GTs go straight down into the coral if you hook up while casting outside from the reef.
