Hey all, whats the deal with these. Are there places you can freedive for them? Where do they live? Are they easy to find?

They're all around NZ, but in varying densities.
Obviously the best known spot for them is Foveaux Straight, but they're in the top of the South Island in reasonable numbers in certain places (don't ask me where - I don't know).

Lots of them in top of the south in the right places... but can gave very metallic taste from certain areas due to beingnear rivers that are draining from high mineral content rock/mountain areas.
Yes its cold... no I dont care that you feel the cold easily... no we can't get out....

I wouldn't eat them in most harbours/urban areas as they do accumulate heavy metals

In my extensive experience of watching a couple of videos, they seem to sit up on the sand fairly obviously.
