Thinking about upgrading my 10 year old Shimano bait caster. One of the best real I've owned hands down - would have caught thousands of fish and been bashed about and never fails.

So the upgrade will be a shimano again without doubt. Looks like the new ones have a few new features too.

Anyone used one?

Got one, for the missus.. she didnt like it, nothing wrong maybe was the colour.
Anyway one of the regular crew started using it. liked it.. and brought one a couple months ago.
I use the 6000 OC now as one of my regular reels.....
yep good budget reel... BUT it has to be maintained well... ie washed down, let dry over night, I then mist spray with inox or marine CRC, wipe down excess and any dirt, and back off the clutches.. then a spot of reel oil on all the spots mentioned in the owners manual... espec the bearing on the bail arm... appatantly, so been told this is a weak point(???)
Or maybe just a "weak point" only if lack of care?

Each yr I remove clutches , clean and re pack...along with other maintenance.

Yep I would recommend it
And the wife replaced hers with an okuma colro something CD 55a 'baitrunner'
That runs well also

If you have the coin, the Thunnus CI4 is the best baitrunner going.

May be still one second hand on the Buy Sell forum.
