Went out this morning, was a good swell at manu which made launching fun to watch, that wall is absolute rubbish! went to 30m as that was the latest intel I had from the day before. Dropped the pick and instant hookup into a couple of 10lb's...............and then that was it. The rest of the day went like this, shark shark shark shark shark GURRNARD shark shark shark shark MAKO kahawai.....you get the idea.

Ended up with 2 snaps, 3 carrots, 7 kahawai. Fished 30 -40, brother inlaw was out too and he went from 30 - 50 and did about the same. Still a beauty day on the water.

The fish must also be on holiday haha. At least you got out in the boat. Worst day on the boat is still better than the best day at the office.

Started at 42m due west for a couple of snap & gurnard. Heaps of big KY. Moved into 30 off Carters and onto gurnard. Ended up with 24 gurnard & 8 snapper. Could have loaded the boat with KY. Sounded like in closer 20-23m was where the snapper were

Grabbed a bunch of kingis off one of the reefs then sat at 38m couple of snaps then moved to 29m and a gurnard and a snapper. Kawhai for Africa and monsters! Had a triple hook up and all big what a pain in the butt as wrapped the other lines. One of the kingies got sharked at boat side.

Just finished a kingi battered in falafel with couscous courgette salad. Very good.

Skippies at 24m and marlin at 34m - typical west coast day. Out over a foggy bar at 8am. The sounder was cluttered with fish from the bar all the way out. Stopped at 24m as couldn't keep ignoring the sign on the finder. Not a bite grrr but noticed surface fish I picked for kawhais. Only had some tensile lures. Out they went and double skippie hook up landing one. 6kg models ! Nice. Decided to head out deeper as plenty of boats screaming past and picked up another skippie at 30m from a double hook up. Parked up at the 36m and got gurnard, smooth hound shark, and a few snapper. Then looking back to 34m at an explosion of white water and watched a very large marlin free jumping 6-8 times. Don't known if possible but it looked like a blue and it was smashing the skippie school we picked ours up from. No lures as planned a bottom bounce session. Buzzing from the show we continued fishing when we were surrounded by skippies. We continued bottom bouncing and started getting bites again when my mate pointed to a large shape screaming past the boat. This was a strippy and within seconds the skippie school vanished. Landed a double skippie hook up and past Dolphins on way back to bar as we buzzed on the day we had Boat on trailer at 1pm. Beer in hand watch cricket with sesame rolled and seared tuna and kawhai sushi. Life is good.

I caught a few Blacks when living in Samoa - this had a heavy shoulder and head but it was at a distance so?. The one under the boat was definitely a stripy as it was lit up and stripes obvious. I knew marlin could boggie but that school of skippies vanished like in thin air, you couldn't even see which way they went.

Went out of Manu bay today. Shot straight out West to 40m and caught absolutely nothing. Shot out a bit further to 50m and caught 7 fat pannies from 32 to 44cm, and 4 fat gurnard. Also got a couple of huge kawahai. Was a good day but a bit rough further out. Where has everyone else been getting snapper?

I was out there yesterday 46m a few Snappa and Gurnard,  Snappa fishing was slow Gurnard were all a good size. Lots of big Ky out there, tried dragging lures on the way in caught more Ky. Got a bit lumpy the further we went out so 46meters was as far as we went. Spent the first half an hour untangling the anchor rope, dont know how it turned in macrame, probably in too much of a hurry to get it out.
Was up at the Waikawau mussel farms on Monday good Snappa if you could get into the burley trail, bit like boat dodgems and trying not to hit any one as it was very close fishing several boats at a time trying to all back up to the barge burley trail.

Out yesterday north of Carter's in 10-12m ,lots of sign thought we would try softbaiting drifting out with the easterly wind.
Gave it a good go but came up empty so dropped the pick and got a burley going.
Was slow to start with but snaps came on with the tide and was a good few hours with fish up to 69cm amongst a hand full of carrots and KY.
Not too much issues with sharks and the sea got nicer as the day went on and made for a nice bar crossing just after low tide..A great day😀

Popped out yesterday over a snotty ongoing bar. Tried close and nothing. Moved 30m and slowly picked up 7 snapper and a couple of gurnard. Boat at the ramp fished 30m also and did ok with a nice 68cm snap. Weather glassed out and nice run back in. Great day in the water.

Went out to 60m yesterday, very slow 5 snaps and a gurnard with a few ky in between in 2 hrs. Moved in to 50m still the same pretty slow 3 more snaps untill the bite slowed to nothing. Decided to call it quits and head in early to cross the bar before the low.
