considering how many absolute tools are involved with sport fishing the guy must be one hell of a rooster.

There's a interview with Peter wright in latest marlin mag that mentions the moldcraft wide range lures that I found interesting, he said that only a tiny fraction of his marlin in 50 years of fishing were caught on lures but when they did pull lures when the fishing was slow his most success was with the senior and standard wide ranges in any colour as marlin lack the necessary cone cells required for color vision.
Pg 24 feb issue.

a few seasons ago I would not have run a wide range as it was too plain but now I would run a whole spread of them any day , the hookups we have had have been positive solid bites and I get the feeling that being soft like a natural bait they dont scare the fish of so much like a hard resin head .
Have a bit of a chuckle really as it took me so many seasons to figure out why it was voted the no1 lure in the world ,,should have listened to the pros right from the start.

A couple of new ones I made last week. I tried to do a angry cartoon eye on the blue one as I have never seen anybody do this before. Will play around with a few other eye designs in the future.

Yeah mate I like those eyes, Antonio Amaral from Brazil does something similar to that too.

Here's a few of the recent bits and pieces to come out of my shed.

My friend Marco Canu is full on into again in Cape Verde.  He sent through a couple of pics, one of the Wake The Dead teaser that has raised 85% of his pitched marlin and another great underwater shot of a blue marlin caught on the "Bagus" lure.

They are more like the old Sea Tal skirts and much less prone to tangling than the Chinese made ones.

Hi All,

Found this thread a week or so ago and have trolled my way slowly through all 122 pages of it. There are some absolutely stunning lures being made in NZ at the moment, many of which have given me ideas and inspiration when creating my own lures.

I'm much the same as others on here, in that I have no commercial interest in making lures, it's purely for the enjoyment and seeing some really cool stuff come out of the mold and off the lathe. All of my lures come out of my own molds, that I poured off my own blanks. The shapes are purely what looks good to me at the time while I'm machining them, and no 2 lures are the same.

Keep up the good work guys!

Leo

Murph, I can't hope to get them as good as yours, but here are a few that I've done over the last few months.

Heavy weighted slim jet head

Slant faced straight runner

Lumo bullet

Black Cup face

Black Bullet

As with everything, they're always evolving, especially with the inserts. I've got a set on at the moment with some new inserts that I've made and I'm working on my own eyes instead of those boggly eyes, though I'm having a hard time getting the colours right. Pretty happy with the clarity now, but it's all about details from here on in!

Cheers,

Leo
