Yep - with an inshore sweep from where we were anyway. Just the right speed for the burley set about 3m above the bottom. Fish condition means I will stick with my night harbour harvesting up on the flats on an incoming. - as long as it lasts anyway (usually until the first frost coincides with low tide).

went out to my usual 'east of a bouy' area yesterday with 2 mates.  the snapper fishing wasn't the fastest, but we did muck about trying to catch livies and live baiting kings which would probably have had some bearing on that...  End up with 19 snapper 35-65cm, 2 82cm kings, and a few kahawai.  Did hook into a couple of larger kings but due to some unforseen braid failures both are still swimming.  largest snapper went 5.2kg

Haven't been out myself for a couple of weeks, but have heard there are still plenty in the harbour, up the Te Puna Channel side.

Sure do Ivan.
That & micro jigging, & latterly a bit of Kabura style.

When I get the Minn Kota fitted, will mix in a bit of tarakihi bait fishing too.

Interesting bit of fun recently sending skippy lures to the deep, snapper seem to like pretending to be tuna, lol.

& you?

Waihi beach was on fire today. Well at least it was for me anyway.
A nice haul of good sized snaps, a kahawai for the smoker, a trevally for sashimi, and a baracouta for my neighbour to put to good use on her long line.
Topped off with great weather and good company.
30mtrs on the sand straight out from the entrance did it for us.
Back at the ramp we spotted Matt Watsons car parked up. Aparently been there since thursday night - out at mayor sword hunting. Would be a tad chilly on the boat tonight!
