I was beginning to be a non believer of tauranga harbour squids having tried a few times unsucessfully, however an event this morning changed my mind.

Far out. I have spent countless hours chasing those slimly fu*kers and I have spent well over $500 in gear trying to target them and I have absolutely nothing to show for my results. If I were you, I would buy a lotto ticket, or a 100.

I caught my first squid this morning at Salisbury wharf with my castnet. I just saw it sitting in the shallows and threw the net over it and caught it

Haha excellent, well I'm glad you found a good spot. I'm also glad that they're actually out there! I hope that's a sign of better things to come. I'll keep trying now.

Just in case anyone is interested, quite a few squid around right now. Caught 6 before the lock down, all within an hour. They're here!
