Hit a good session on Saturday. Was first car in the carpark and headed up to the old Avenue. Couldnt really see until 10 past seven, flat overcast sky, river in perfect nick though. Temperature probably around 2-3 degrees which gave the old hands a few tingles.

Couple of pools up from the Avenue hit a nice pod of fish, hooked 9, landed 7 kept three for the smoker. Largest around 6 lbs and all fresh but one, all fish over 45 cm.

Havent seen fish like that for some years on the TT. Things definitely getting better.

Think i saw you walking back to carpark around 9-10am?? We spent the day up there, worked our way to above the Cliff pool- great day, a few fish around but nothing as large as you got.. Got a few nice ones in the Hine this morning, the TT is in flood now but should come on hard Wednesday.

Better size than the bloody Tongariro! Landed 15 on saturday and not one of them over 3lbs!!! - just terrible to see when you can recall 5-6 years ago, not many would be under 5lbs. A 9 weight rod is such an overkill on that river nowdays, a 6 wt rod is perfect, it aint exactly a large deep river anymore either... but still a pleasent place to fish and that's all that counts, hardly any anglers around either suprisingly enough.
