Also fished ebop comp. Fished from Omaio and it was hard and slow. Weighed in a snapper and ky. Tried everything to catch more. Great to catch up with all the club members. My boy also weighed in a snapper Well done to all the prize winners. It looked like most went away with a prize or spot prize. Thanks to ebop kayak fishing club and Fish and More Whakatane for my vouchure.

Interesting how slow the fishing was at ebop. I was yaking the beach n boat comp, fished really well first thing then from about 8.30-1pm got nothing.
Love fishing, love my job. It's a bloody shame that they clash.

Sweet as. I think sunrise is at 6:50am, so I'll try to launch Pap Domain 30 mins before that.

Been such a long time since I've been out my tackle pod has gone mouldy. Confused

Went out this morning, first time for me since we moved here, both location and waves a new experience. Went from Domain at 9:30. Did a drift in 6m and immediately picked up a couple of reasonable snaps and no shortage off big kahawai, almost plague like. Did another drift in6m, another snap, more kahawai. Then headed out to 12m for a drift and picked up another couple of snaps, 1 at 65cm. By 11:30 had had enough of playing the kahawai so braved my first surf re-entry. Gods must have been smiling as made it in turtle free, beginners luck!! All in all a great first day out in BOP, hoping for many more to come.

Great conditions this morning for Piwi, Cobra and myself. Little bit of surf, but managed to avoid getting wet on the way out.

Followed Beepeekiwi's advice and started fishing this morning in 6m, heaps of sign about. Quickly onto a little pannie at 35cm, then a large KY while I was still dealing with the snap. Fish were regular from that point on with another 4 keepers plus a few marginal throw backs. The drift was pretty much straight out from 6m to 14. Fish sign and catch dropped off at 14m, so I headed back into 8 and pretty much straight back into them. Another 2 for the limit then back to the beach before 9.

Caught on a mix of gulps, micro jigs and a trigger x accounted for another KY. Colours were all over the place, but brights seemed to do better.

Fish were full of crabs, well thats what there were crapping out.

Easy fishing.

Great morning out there today,a bit slow to start, got a bit frustrating watching Dale and Piwi pulling one in after another, but finally it turned good for me.Sign was through 8-13m for me,slow drift towards Major island, plagued by Kahawai though, they were everywhere.Conditions look good for tomorrow so might try my luck again.
