Welcome ambotha9, piwi sorted a pretty good list there. The most important thing I reckon when starting out is time on the water and you'll learn from each trip and yeah I'm sure you will be welcome to tag along with anyone on here. Was a hard day for me down rogeys on saturday with a good crew but did score a feed with 3 low 40s. Well done on that snap scottyboy but I'm going to be sceptical of your estimates for a while.

Welcome Andre.

Piwi's list is great. If you are like me, don't forget your suntan lotion.

Micro jigs are another good method to look into. Each jig lasts lots longer than softies do.

I've been fishing off the coast here for about 6 months. Learn't lots and still learn lots from the yakker's on here.

My name is Dale. Its can be kinda strange calling people by their forum names when you meet em..Wacko

Amboth , don't spend to much on rods you are probably going to trash a couple. Get a 10 lt dry bay for your reels saves them getting f### , work out a way of put in your rod down for coming back to shore , here's a set up penn spinfisher 3500 , 15 lb daiwa j braid ,20 lb shimano ocea fluro , mustard 4/0 1/2oz jig heads , okuma xfactor 6 ,10 rod , marine deals

"1/2 oz jigheads and Gulp soft baits"
Love fishing, love my job. It's a bloody shame that they clash.

The combo muse mentioned for a hundred from top catch is awesome value for a starting combo. Just how that coast fishes sometimes cam everyone managed a feed without anyone smashing it just one of those days caught some good blue cod but don't keep them unless they are hooked deep.

Yep all the gun soft baiters fish lefthanded.
