The Black Magic short handle nets are good. Even though I hardly ever use it! Would handle 14lber no sweat.

swellmap has friday morning light winds and tiny surf Noponies. That net is similar to mine although I have the fine mesh which does catch the hooks a bit although they come off easy enough and its lasted me years.

I got one of those Berkley extendable nets the bigger one not the piddly kayak one - gonna bust that one out i think. Trying to net those Kahawai on sunday was a nightmare with my other net.

The little snapper slayer arrives on Friday so we'll be looking to get out as much as poss in the next cpl of weeks.

I think Muse means his daughter, unless he names all his gear....

Friday looks good now. I'll be keen to hit it, but can't do an early start. More like 10am for me after daycare.

Anyone else going out?

Need to suss a drogue before I'm bothering again. The boys fished last night out at motiti and said it was pretty slow going, they had a slay session last week out there though. Fingers crossed they are still on the bite lads 👍🏻Z

I was hoping to head out tomorrow, but that swell doesn't want to drop and Pap primary decided it was a good idea to give the kids Thursday off ...so yes casual start on Friday sounds good.

Scales a drogue is a must for yak fishing. get a good sized one 90cm+ lying flat measured over the big end. Winter fishing is better than summer fishing in my view.I may have just jinxed myself haha.

Bakedfish yeah theres a low sitting way out keeping the surf coming. Will keep an eye on it later tomorrow to see if it dies off.
