Hope the fish are feeding up in all this warm water. As soon as it goes flat and the wind stops blowing they are going to see a lot of us starved kayak fishermen at them. But I don't see much of a window any time soon!

Hi all yakkers, we (EBOP Kayak Fishing Club) are all go for sat. Little wind forecast at this stage, we will make the final decision Friday at the briefing (Whakatane Sports Fishing Club) about is it all harbour, or a combo of Ocean/Harbour? but will wait until then.
There are so many amazing prizes from our sponsors to give away to winners and spot prizes including the major Spot prize of the Viking Profish 400. Check out Kayak NZ site under Competitions EBOP Comp 2018 for times, prizes etc.
One of our yakkers pulled out some nice snapper, trevally and a legal kingfish from the harbor last weekend.

Been for a surf today. A solid ground swell has arrived with 2m waves and looks like it is set to continue over the weekend.

Better to catch than be caught. Surfboard instead of kayak this weekend.
I know they must be having pressure from sponsors, but I think it's a shame not to hold the comp at a time when they're going to get the most entries and have the best time. Delay again, I say.

Hi all, as I am new to Papamoa I am trying to figure out how to read what are good conditions on swellmap. What should I be looking for for swell, wave face, chop etc that would tell me it is fishable? Are there any other websites you guys use to also help. Haven’t been out yet as weather seems not to be playing ball over last few weeks. Should I try the harbour? Getting desperate as my mates up in Auckland are pulling in the fish at mo at I can’t take any more photos of their bag hauls!!

Gday BP Surf2surf has a free cam where you can see up to date photos of the mount coast and main beach . As for the harbour there’s fish in there at the moment . I usually go to omokoroa when I fish the harbour around Motuhoa or in the channels

Hey Bud. If your using swellmap change it to boat. Getting used to paps I suggest going with one of the guys, and 1 meter and under, and under 15knots

went to the ebop comp this weekend.
Conditions eased down that way so ocean fishing was on so I went to Te Kaha with some others.
FF wires all broke so fishing blind which not a good start and pretty stayed like that all morning for me and most others with fishing very slow and tough for most.
Back at weigh in there was only 70 odd fish weighed in from 40 anglers so a lot of fish prizes were decided by spot prizes.
Biggest snap was not very big at 3 kilo from memory Confused
I ended up with a box of catch lures so pretty happy with that result from a poor days fishing
After all the uncertainty in the lead up to the comp it was once again a well run event with no issues so thanks to Ebop for running a good event.
They are thinking of moving the comp to later in the year to try and get more settled weather and avoid some of the other comps .
