Hi...there is an online PETITION [on the NZ Parliament website and currently open until 31/12/2019] asking the government to fund a MINISTRY FOR MEN as a means to better address 'Mens Issues' and the many negative outcomes affecting MEN, their families and society as a whole.

There has been a women's ministry since 1984 that has provided targeted research, advocacy and advice across government agencies and to politicians regarding women's issues. It's achievements have been impressive. There is still, however, no such ministry advocating for men even though men have poorer health outcomes and die earlier, men's suicide rates are 2.7 times than that for women, they have much higher homelessness rates, are more likely to use violence and engage in hazardous drinking, etc causing a whole raft of negative outcomes.

If you are interested in taking a look at the BLOG for more information and/or the PETITION itself then here are some links.:

Well YOU might think it 'political nonsense', that's up to you. But some us are are indeed pissed off by the lack of engagement from politicians about the issues affecting Men. We are so PC in this country that only gwomen get a voice at the political level with their own Ministry For Women, but there is NOTHING to advocate form Men...hence why there is such an under-current of resentment and anger.

Ok so you think this is 'political nonsense'? Ok so lets do nothing then and let the social carnage continue.
So you're offended...oh dear how sad, never mind.

I think smudge is indicating that this is a fishing forum.
I understand that there are issues that make things difficult for estranged fathers & would support change.
BUT, F.net is not the place, thanks...

Yeah not a huge fan. The ministry of women is cool by me.

Yes there is certainly a trend towards running down men, particularly white men in the left leaning sorts of late. But rather than whinge about it I would like to think we can rise above the political bait, like a wary old snapper Wink Which is what the site is about really.

I DID NOT SPAM THIS SITE Smudge...I had permission from your Administrator Grant who also felt that men are getting a bad deal from our politicians and that something like this initiative IS BETTER THAN DOING NOTHING! Ouch

Read the blog then see if you think this is 'political nonsense'

Men have 2.7 times the suicide rate than women
92% of prisoners are men
Men do most of the violence - $6.5b each year for family/sexual violence
Most homeless people are men
Men do more hazardous drinking
Men have poorer health outcomes
PLUS for every $1 spent on research into sex-specific health issues men get 6 cents.

ANY SUPPORT is appreciated out there. The Petitition will be presented to the select committee in the new year.

Well after that list all I see is more bloody taxes LOL

Yes there are issues but if I am frank I am glad I am a man! We got it easier than woman that is a fact, just be grateful you got yourself a Y chromosome and you don't have to deal with bringing life into this world.

And most of them don't even fish(not all of courseSmile), which is the focus here.

It's the old story and it goes like this.... "It's not what you say, it's how you say it" and while I was asked if our old mate cwf484 or Ministryformen could put up a post (and appreciated the fact that he did ask), I said "sure, go for it" as I thought it might be interesting and be relevant to the majority of our wider audience.

Unfortunately it wasn't - sorry about that.
