Hey team,

Anyone recommend a good sparkie that knows trailer boats and doesn't cost the earth?

We have an earth leak, and a anchor winch that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding!

Cheers,
Speedy

If it is just the winch playing up, a $20 multimeter and 30 minutes should give the answer if you cant find a sparky. The other quick test is to check if any of the power cable ends or the winch motor get hot when you operate the winch. What sort of winch?

Heya Tagit!

This is the hull I picked up off you nearly two years ago Dave - the Rayglass 650. Love that model, just a couple of electrical tidy ups still to do - but its a lucky boat!! Been an amazing jump up from the little buccaneer 450 sport that we were in before - which in itself was a cracker little boat. But the freedom and safety of this one is brilliant... That 175 yammie hasn't missed a beat either.

Cheers

Hey Mike. Didn't recognise the "Speedy'. Glad the boat going well. The usual issue with the Rayglass capstan going slow is either corrosion in the connections at the capstan motor or down at the foot switch. If you run the capstan and see which cable end gets hot you should find it pretty fast if it is one of those. If the capstan motor itself gets hot then it might need a strip and inspection to see if it is the motor or a bad bearing etc. Thise capstans are reasonably easy to service once you know them.
