Can some one please tell me if fish caught in the Manukau harbour are safe to eat especially as a lot of the beaches are not safe to swim.
I don't want to waste a nice snapper that I caught today.

Have eaten plenty of Manukau snapper,and other fish as well. Never a problem. Most Manukau snapper are not resident and probably only spend a small part of their life actually in the harbour.

I can concur. Eating Manukau snapper has never affected me none

Nah they are perfectly ok, the Manukau harbour is way cleaner then many people realise. We eat loads of fish & shellfish from there.
Best gurnard fisherman in my street

No problem - you think what they do farming chickens and people eat that without worrying - at least the fish had a life and was swimming around when caught!
Shellfish is only thing you have to be careful with algie blooms at times etc.
Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.
